Bulletin

A new reality has gripped the world, even as lockdowns across the world gradually ease and workplaces prepare to reopen. Human health has become the foremost priority in each sphere. Everyday spaces are being reconfigured to accommodate social distancing, adequate ventilation and easy cleaning. Governments continue to discourage large gatherings and non-essential travel.

Businesses are turning local, rather than global. For many, working from home and using digital tools for collaboration has become the new normal. While every industry faces a certain measure of uncertainty and risk ahead, the growing undercurrent of innovation can help build a strong, resilient and safe post-COVID world.
We are continuing the BEE nZEB Feasibility Study amidst the lockdown
EDS is conducting feasibility studies for 100 existing buildings to be converted to nearly zero energy buildings (Energy Performance Index i.e. EPI < 15kWh/sqm/yr). Amidst the current lockdown, we have re-strategised the way forward. In place of site visits for data collection, we are now conducting online sessions with participating project teams. Apply now to receive a free feasibility analysis for your project.

Self-assess energy and water savings for your project using EDGE app
An innovation by IFC, the EDGE application is a free resource to design resource-efficient buildings. The app can quickly demonstrate energy savings due to different energy conservation measures, calculate the utility savings and reduced carbon footprint of your green building against a base case. Further, utility savings are adjusted according to regional tariffs. Explore

ArthaLand Century Pacific Tower, Phillipines

ArthaLand Century Pacific Tower is a 30-storey net-zero carbon office building, certified under the EDGE rating system. The building has projected energy savings of 45% and 100% utility hydroelectric energy supply. Its energy-saving features include higher thermal performance glass, reflective paint on the roof, efficient lighting fixtures with occupancy and daylight sensors, an energy recovery system and a Variable Refrigerant Volume (VRV) Cooling System. The building uses low-embodied energy materials for window framing, roof and floor slabs and external curtain walls. Read more.

Guidelines for ACs and fans to control coronavirus spread in buildings
The government has advised workplaces, residences and healthcare facilities to follow air conditioning and ventilation guidelines compiled by ISHRAE. The temperature of home-run ACs should be between 24°C-30 °C and the humidity between 40%-70%. Rooms should be ventilated even when ACs are not running. Read more
India considers mandatory hydro-power targets for states
Hydropower, part of India's large-scale renewable energy addition program, gained further recognition in the recent 9-minute country-wide power blackout. Its flexible power generation capability played a key role in ensuring grid stability. In response to that, new projects are set to get a big push with mandatory hydropower procurement targets planned for all state discoms. Read more
