Air Conditioners are designed to provide human comfort by lowering the room temperature and humidity. Despite Air conditioners consuming large amount of electricity, their popularity amongst the general public is increasing.
Two types of air conditioners are present in the market:
Window Type
In this type of air conditioner, all the elements of the system are enclosed in a single casing.
Split Type
In this type, there are two units of the system. The outdoor unit comprises of the compressor, condenser and condenser fan. The indoor unit comprises of the evaporator as well as the air handler.
It is mandatory to have BEE star label on Room Air Conditioners since January 2010. The Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) calculates the efficiency of an air conditioner. EER is measured as a ratio of cooling output per hour to the power input for an air conditioner. Thus, higher the EER, more is the energy efficiency of an air conditioner.
