Energy Efficiency and Confederation Authority (EECA), New Zealand is disappointed and concerned over many hot water cylinders failing the energy efficiency check testing and not meeting the manufacturer’s energy efficiency claims. Around 60,000 hot water cylinders are sold per annum. “This issue is important because hot water makes up about 30% amount of the average energy bill – about $600 a year. Failure to meet Standards is costing each household up to $1,240 over the life of the cylinder (about 20 years) at current energy prices” Read more
