Featured Project

435 Indioway
Originally built more than 50 years back, 435 Indioway is a single-story tilt-up in Sunnyvale, California that was renovated to achieve net-zero energy. This tenant-occupied office building incorporates innovative design strategies for climate-response as well as occupant wellness while reducing costs by as much as $100.83/sft as compared to similar code-minimum buildings. This energy-efficient building in fact exceeds its design goals and supplies energy back to the grid. 435 Indio Way’s most outstanding feature is that it’s cooled by passive strategies alone, with a backup HVAC system that is 22% smaller than conventional systems.

Global Updates

India achieves lowest cost of floating solar photovoltaic (FSPV) globally
A TERI report analyzed the latest FSPV bids and concluded that its investment costs are declining sharply, with the latest bid quoting Rs.35 per Watt. At present, there are more than 1,700 MW worth of FSPV projects under various stages of development in the country. Read more
Kendeda, a Net-Positive Building in Georgia Institute of Technology
The 37,000 sft building is a learning centre that features innovative strategies like solar panels that double up as water collection devices. The building is cooled by circulating water under the floor along with use of ceiling fans to balance the humidity. Read more
Policy Pathways to Net Zero Carbon Buildings for all
New WRI research finds there are policy pathways to reach zero carbon buildings regardless of location or development status. The report identifies eight pathways that countries can take to achieve zero carbon buildings by reducing energy demand and using clean energy supply.
NZEBs are key drivers of Building-Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) market
100% Net-Zero Energy targets for buildings in many parts of the world like California and Germany are giving a major push to the BIPV industry. The estimated $3 billion global BIPV market is projected to reach $5.7 billion by 2023 and $11.6 billion in 2027. US, China and Japan are poised to emerge as BIPV market leaders. Read more
