Building Energy Efficiency Program (BEEP) dashboard launched
MAITREE partner Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) launched the Building Energy Efficiency Program (BEEP) Dashboard in Mumbai on 19th December 2019.  The dashboard will help monitor and showcase energy, emissions and power demand savings from BEEP, the world’s largest program for deploying cost-effective energy efficient technologies in existing buildings.
Expert insights into achieving responsible NZEBs
Gurneet Singh - Director, EDS was invited to speak on 'ECBC 2017- a step towards responsible Net Zero Energy Buildings' at the workshop on 'Advancing Net Zero' organized by CII-Indian Green Building Council on 26th December 2019 in New Delhi.

LDA progresses in Sharda Nagar affordable housing scheme: over 2000 units completed!
Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) started the first housing scheme for socially and economically weak- Sharda Nagar- as per Green and Energy Efficient Buildings guidelines developed by MAITREE. The guidelines prioritize design that enhances daylight, natural ventilation, and occupant thermal comfort. A total of 12,000 houses are to be constructed in Sharda Nagar. LDA will transfer learnings from Sharda Nagar to other housing schemes.
 #100nzebs feasibility study
EDS is conducting feasibility studies for 100 existing buildings to be converted to nearly zero energy buildings (Energy Performance Index i.e. EPI < 15kWh/sqm/yr). This study is funded by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE). Register your project now.

Featured Project

Infosys SDB-1, Pocharam
The SDB-1 (Software Development Block-1) at Infosys campus, Pocharam is a living experiment in low-energy cooling. Its two wings, identical in all respects, use a radiant cooling and a conventional VAV system. The radiant cooling system requires 75% lesser air than the VAV system and performs 30% better. Post-occupancy surveys have reported higher thermal comfort satisfaction in the radiant-cooled wing. The SDB-1 is also a smart, high-performance building that leverages a host of passive design strategies like daylighting, shading and proper orientation for reducing its electric loads. For example, blinds have not been installed in the office space because the windows are well-shaded, blocking any possible glare. Read more

Indian Railways target net-zero carbon emissions by 2030
The Indian Railways will be fully electrified in the next four years as well as produce its own solar power by 2030, making it the first railways of its scale to achieve net-zero. Currently, the railways emit 6.84 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions. Read more
India's first fully solar-powered village planned in Tamil Nadu
Irumbai village is set to go off the grid by early 2020 with a 170kWp ground-mounted solar farm powering the entire village. The village has also upgraded its streetlights, fans and other electronic devices to energy-efficient models. Read more
A new technology fits solar power devices into glass blocks
University of Exeter, England has built a solar power device that fits into glass blocks and can be used to generate electricity from facades while achieving daylighting. The blocks absorb solar radiation using intelligent optics and direct it to solar cells to generate electricity. Read more
Over 50% growth in energy storage capacity in UK since 2018
RenewableUK has published a report highlighting the rapid growth in UK's energy storage market in the last decade. The country now has 10,500 MW of energy storage, enough to power over a million electric vehicles. Read more
