Sharing the MAITREE experience at Indian Conference on Life Cycle Management  (ILCM) 2019
Nidhi Gupta from EDS shared lessons and learnings from the life cycle thinking (LCT) approach adopted in MAITREE projects for market transformation towards Energy Efficiency at ILCM on 15th November 2019. The talk was part of a session on 'Adopting LCT into policy making to transform India's landscape'. Learn more
Study tour to NZEBs in Hyderabad
A tour to the net-zero CII-Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre was conducted on 21st November '19. Following that, a tour to Infosys net-zero energy campus at Pocharam was organized on 22nd November'19.
NZEB Quiz on social media
The NZEB Quiz started on 25th November across all major social media platforms like LinkedIn and Instagram. There were 10 questions for 10 days. 20 top-scorers were declared the winners! The quiz is still open if you wish to test your NZEB quotient.
View November webinars from the NZEB Knowledge Series
In November, the NZEB Knowledge Series brought on board industry experts for two webinars- 'Vapor Absorption Technology: Cooling for High-Performance Buildings' and 'Renewable Energy Market and Policy for NZEBs in India'. The recordings can be viewed on our Youtube channel.

Featured Project

CII-Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre
The iconic CII - Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre was the first LEED Platinum New Construction v2 certified project outside the United States in 2003. This project catalyzed the green building movement in India. Recently, the building underwent an ambitious retrofit targeting the net-zero energy goal. It now features a 150 kW bifacial solar PV plant, an upgraded BMS and a highly-efficient chiller. The retrofitted GBC demonstrates and showcases the viability of establishing net-zero energy buildings. Learn more

Global Updates

Capgemini's Bangalore campus becomes first project to achieve Platinum certification under the IGBC Net Zero Energy Rating System
The 16-acre corporate campus features a 1100 kWp on-site, captive power plant. Demand-side energy reduction strategies include smart aisle containment for efficient cooling at its data center and dual feeder electricity supply to reduce diesel generator operations. Read more
Andhra Pradesh renews thrust on ECBC implementation
While Andhra Pradesh is one of the few states to have mandated ECBC 2017, commercial projects were able to bypass ECBC compliance due to pending updates in the state's Development Permission Management System software. The state is now set to fully integrate the ECBC clause in the software in 2020, enabling stringent implementation. Read more
Buildings in NYC will soon display their energy-efficiency grades
New York city is aiming to go carbon neutral by 2050. With buildings contributing to 2/3 of greenhouse gas emissions, the city has mandated mid and large-sized buildings to report their energy data to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The buildings will need to display the energy efficiency grades they receive based on their performance. Read more
Low-energy Outdoor Active Cooling in Singapore (OACIS)
Singapore is testing a low-energy, outdoor cooling technology that uses solid state heat pumps for heat transfer instead of compressors. The OACIS uses 25%-60% less energy compared to conventional systems. The next step could be integrating OACIS into building HVAC systems, reducing infrastructural energy consumption. Learn more
About USAID MAITREE program
USAID-led Market Integration and Transformation for Energy Efficiency program (MAITREE) is a four-year bilateral program with the Ministry of Power. MAITREE supports efforts for moving towards a super-efficient and Net Zero Energy target for new buildings. EDS is the implementing partner of this program.
